S1:E19 The Clergy & Laity Dichotomy with Jacob Theunisz
In this episode, Christopher and Maggie speak to Jacob Theunisz about the clergy and laity divide within the church. Jacob tells us about the original Greek words and what they meant, how the writers of the New Testament meant for them to play out in the church, and how the system the church eventually built up around clergy may be harmful to the spiritual development of God's people.
CORRECTIONS: In this episode, we mistakenly claimed that Jacob is a retired pastor. First, Jacob is not a pastor; he is a Reader, which is not the same thing (click here to learn what a Reader in the Anglican Church is). And second, Jacob is only retired from his secular job, not from being a Reader in the Anglican church. We apologize to Jacob for these mistakes.
Christopher and Maggie are spiritual directors that like talking about spiritual things. Spiritual direction is a listening ministry that creates a sacred space for you to listen to God, see where God is at work in your life, and grow in awareness of who you were created to be. We would love to hear from you! Email Christopher and Maggie at SDTASinfo@gmail.com.
